LAND ROVER SERIE I

AN ENGLISH MYTH LAND ROVER SERIE I

In 1948,two English brothers, Maurice and Spencer Wilks, inspired by the Jeep Willys, vehicle that served as transport and that was a lag of war, decided to create a work vehicle, far from the practically playful SUVs that the company  offers nowadays.

Unquestionably the absence of comfort was evident in this vehicle, since it was built thinking that it should be a mixture between a tractor for the harsh conditions that endured, and a car that could serve as transport.

His presentation was at the Amsterdam Motor Show in 1948, and on May 1 of this year, he made his great debut in post-war Britain, as a work vehicle for the field.

The first productions of these LAND ROVER SERIE I were not exempt from problems, due to the lack of supply of metal parts, especially for the bodywork, by the lamenting situation of the industries in Great Britain (in the period of 1945-1950), and that there were not even tools or raw materials for the construction of vehicles.

PROBABLY THE MOST EXPENSIVE AND WITH MORE HISTORY LAND ROVER SERIE I

This LAND ROVER SERIE I was the gift for his 80 birthday to a famous twentieth-century British politician and statesman and Nobel Prize for Literature in 1953, who is credited such famous phrases as “A fanatic is someone who can not change his mind and does not want change the subjetc”, or not the least known “A steel curtain has fallen on the continent”, and the one I like most “An optimist sees and oportunity in every calamity, and a pessimist sees a calamity in every oportunity”, as it could be somebody how Winston Curchill. Even the registration of his vehicle gave off personality, UKE 80 (UNITED KINGDOM EMPIRE) and 80 his age.

Upon his death it passed on to his son-in-law, who used it for work on his farme, until he sold it for 160 pounds, the new owner had not idea that, it had been made to measure for Churchill, at the end of 2014 the Serie I was auctioned, thinking about getting between 50000 or 60000 pounds, but an anonymous came to pay for 129000 pounds.
